Prayer and Liturgy Catholic Life

On Ash Wednesday, all pupils and students took part in liturgies to mark the start of Lent.

Pupils were told why ashes are used in the shape of the cross and that during Lent we should all aim to pray, fast and give. The school followed Pope Francis' wishes by making the day a time of prayer and fasting for peace in Ukraine as special prayers were offered and offering only vegetarian options in the canteen.

All pupils and students were offered the chance to receive ashes which were distributed by Sixth Formers completing their St Pope John Paul II Award.
