Congratulations go to all our Year 11 boys who received their GCSE and vocational results results this week.
The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education

It has been an unprecedented year where pupils have had to embrace a new form of assessment, but their results are testament to their determination to succeed. 61% of all entries were graded 5 or above with 31% of entries achieving 9-7 (the equivalent of A*-A). 80% of boys were entered for the EBacc. Our budding scientists continued to excel with 72% of those entered receiving grades 9-7 in Biology, 64% receiving 9-7 in Physics and an impressive 79% received 9-7 grades in Chemistry. Our Religious Education results were also very impressive with 55% of boys achieving grades 9-7. Amongst our most successful boys were ten young men who achieved at least 7 grade 9s with two boys achieving 9 grade 9s and 1 grade 7 each.
The last time that these boys had an uninterrupted school year, was Year 9. Despite the challenges of lockdowns, periods of isolation and the need to master remote learning, these boys have achieved a great set of results. The school community is rightly proud of their achievements. For those boys returning to St Cuthbert’s for Year 12 in September we look forward to welcoming you back soon. For those boys moving on to new challenges elsewhere, we wish you every success and happiness. We hope and pray that you will build upon what you have learnt so far and never forget the true goal of education.
