On Tuesday 1st December we launched our Advent Appeal and invited our students and their families to donate canned food, pasta and biscuits. The foodstuffs were given to 'The People's Kitchen' homeless centre which is located on Bath Lane, Newcastle.
Students from Years 7 to 11 brought in daily donations which were dropped off in their year group bubbles. The school’s Advent prayer, said in every lesson, asked God’s help with being proactive when caring for our communities and served as a reminder to the students to give generously which they did!
We look forward to donating more soon and in the words of Keith from the People’s Kitchen, “Next year I’ll bring a bigger van!”
In what has been a challenging year for many, rather fittingly, 52 boxes of food were collected by the charity. We would like to thank the students and their families for their kind donations. To give so much at a difficult time of the year is inspirational and we will be encouraging some of our older students to volunteer there in the future.
