A Piece of Footballing History
In 1981 St Cuthbert's Under 19 football team won the ESFA National Cup. 40 years on, the squad gathered to celebrate the anniversary of their triumph. The celebration was due to take place on 8th May 2021, the exact date that 40 years ago the boys lifted the cup. However, it was postponed due to the pandemic. 11 of the squad, plus manager David Stapylton managed to get together to celebrate the occasion. Six of the squad missed the event as they were in different parts of the world. A great time was had by all, with plenty of stories and memories about the run up to the final being told and retold.
